ABOUT WOVEN WATERS from producer JOHN DOYLE:
“I have lived in Asheville off and on for many years and I am still amazed with how much talent there is in that small city. When Anya first introduced me to the members of Tellico and asked me to produce their upcoming album, I must admit I was a little uneasy about the task to come. I had never produced something that was not at least in some way connected to the Celtic music scene. And although I have played in and been around Americana, Roots, Bluegrass and Old-timey music for as long as I have lived in the States, some 27 years and counting, it was a bit unusual for me.
I started listening to their songs not really knowing what to expect and I was delightfully surprised when I heard the depth and scope of their collective songwriting. I was drawn in and for me, that’s the crux of it. Their fine musicianship, clearly connected to their dedication of their art was so refreshing to work with every day. Every track was like peeling back the layers of a fantastic musical onion, more depth and heart with each one. Every member of the band has dedicated many years of hard work and honing their craft to now have emerged with a sound and a story that is truly their own and has become ‘Woven Waters’ by Tellico.”
--John Doyle, producer, August 2018
"With deep warm tones, intimate vocals, vivid lyrics, natural arrangements, and emotional solos Tellico masterfully draws the listener into the center of their original songs. Through their wonderful musicianship they never fail to create an atmosphere that perfectly enhances their storytelling. I love this CD!"
--Chad Manning, David Grisman Bluegrass Experience
“On the new Relics and Roses, Asheville's Tellico puts their ‘Appalachiacana’ sound to work showcasing some of what western North Carolina is known for...."
--The Bluegrass Situation
“Fresh from the fertile roots music scene in Asheville, N.C., comes bluegrass foursome Tellico, who make a remarkable first impression with splendid debut album Relics and Roses. If you’re a fan of mountain music, I urge you to check out this up-and-coming outfit… four first-rate musicians… This one’s a winner, y’all”
--Jeffrey Sisk, Pittsburgh in Tune
“....wonderfully original mountain music."
--Martin Anderson, Music Director & Morning Host WNCW-FM
“Relics and Roses is a record that you be will be drawn to not to simply listen, but to actively listen. While timeless and authentic are words you hear describing music quite often, here they both ring true.”
--The Daily Country
“Tellico is a young, progressive songwriting group with an old soul and feel. Its music is upbeat, original and just quirky enough to be really special.”
